After earning a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology, Janet went on to pursue a second masters degree and graduated from Columbia University with a MFA in Poetry. Janet’s diverse background combined with experience in clinical settings, allow her to examine, identify, and dismantle the stigma that often surrounds mental health conditions. As such, she helps patients who may be hesitant to begin treatment feel safe and supported. Janet has dedicated her practice to working with individuals who face challenges within her areas of interest.

Janet Duffy, LMHC, LPC, LPCC is an experienced psychotherapist providing services from NYC to the Hamptons, California, Connecticut, and Florida and specializes in treating anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, personality disorders, betrayal trauma, and complex relationship issues. While rooted in the theoretical approaches mentioned above, she works from an eclectic orientation in order to provide each patient with a specialized treatment plan suited to their goals and needs. Janet’s poetry that centers on the human condition and is concert with her work as a psychotherapist has been published in Cagibi, The Tishman Review, and elsewhere. Outside of her work as a psychotherapist, Janet enjoys time at the ocean, writing, music, literature, and spending time with her husband and children. Recently, she relocated from New York City to Long Island, where she lives on the beach and is working on a novel. She is obsessed with her golden retriever (Lucy) who often comes to sessions to sit with patients who would like to engage with a loving and generous support dog.
