PHOBIAS:

A phobia is an overwhelming and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, or feeling that is more pronounced than a simple fear. Phobias develop when a person has an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object. If a phobia becomes very severe, a person may organize their life around avoiding the item that’s causing them anxiety.

What Causes a Phobia?

Although there is no one particular cause of phobias, there are various factors that might contribute to developing a phobia. For example, a past incident or trauma may cause a long-lasting effect. Learned responses from childhood may also develop and influence the cause of a phobia. Long-term stress and responses to panic or fear may also heighten your anxiety around the situation or object.
